The Life of a Sermon

Sometimes people are interested in how a sermon comes together.  I have been asked this question before, so I thought I would take a little time to share the life of a sermon. I choose those words very carefully, because a sermon does take on a life of its own. Once you begin with a text it consumes your life, it takes over.  Like a newborn baby who needs constant care and attention, so a sermon requires a lot of love and care.
